Humpback Whales
Humpback whales migrate from their feeding grounds to areas around the equator to mate and give birth. The images chosen here are from years of studying these animals. The mothers and babies featured here demonstrate a love and intimacy like us when they are young. As the baby grows and becomes stronger, they want to interact with us and lovingly we call them crazy babies. The mother rests more as she doesn't eat until they return together to their feeding grounds once her baby is strong enough to make the journey home. Many sub-adult and adult males make the migration for mating. It's a thrill to experience the breaching, tail slapping, fin displays and heat runs.
